Tim and JacquI Selwood
The Station Master and Mistress of Old Luckett Station
We met in 2007 and soon discovered that we shared a dream to start a new life together. We’ve experienced some amazing and unique challenges along our life journey together and we were married in our then local church St Mary’s in Bletchingley, Surrey in May 2012.
A family trip to St Mawes on the Roseland peninsula with our trusty little speedboat in 2014 ended with us planning to make Cornwall our new home; we agreed that this is ‘where we are meant to be’.
The wonderful quotations below inspired us as we gave up our careers of 23 years in foreign exchange at Gatwick Airport for Jacqui and Tim’s 30 years in the motor trade in Beckenham, Kent to start our new life.
Friends and family questioned our apparent sudden and seemingly reckless decision but we believed in ourselves and trusted our instincts.
We sold our once ‘dream home’ in Lingfield, Surrey and excitedly bought our own decommissioned railway station in East Cornwall.
Old Luckett Station was our home from the moment we arrived and ‘that view’ is the one we intend to live with for the remainder of our lives – we’re definitely staying put!
We’ve never regretted our decision to move to Cornwall, as it turned out to be one of the best decisions of our lives.
