The Waiting Room Pool

Your own unique private pool and hot tub experience is waiting
here for you at The Waiting Room Pool

PLEASE NOTE THAT ON 1ST JANUARY 2025 THE WAITING ROOM POOL WILL CLOSE FOR BUSINESS AT THE END OF THE DAY AND WILL RE-OPEN ON 18TH JANUARY.

WE WILL BE TAKING SOME TIME OUT AND CARRYING OUT IMPROVEMENTS ANDF MAINTENANCE ON THE FACILITIES DURING THIS TIME

If you’re looking to hire your own unique and private pool and hot tub experience then look no further… The Waiting Room Pool is an ambient 28-30 degrees and offers a wonderful swimming experience.

At five feet in depth and twenty feet in length it’s a perfect size for family and friends to enjoy quality time together in a stunning and clean environment. The hot tub generously accommodates up to six persons and the wonderful body jets add to the relaxing experience.

The pool facilities are cleaned in-between every hire and the environment and facilities is closely monitored and well maintained. The pool and hot tub water is tested across the day, removing the need for the water to be overloaded with chemicals and enabling us to use just the right amount to avoid the unpleasant strong chlorine smell and ‘eye sting’ which can sometimes be experienced in larger commercial pools who often lack the resources to provide the level of attention to detail that we do.

There are two changing cubicles with long mirrors and one has a chair for those less able or with a disability, a baby changing station, a toilet and wash hand basin and a screened shower cubicle with overhead and hand held shower and powerful body jets.

Private swimming lessons are available – contact: swimwithfaye@gmail.com for details

The Waiting Room Pool - A Short History

We purchased Old Luckett Station in 2017 and spent the last few years renovating the buildings, gardens and grounds.

The Waiting Room Pool is our most recent project and following a complete overhaul and re-fit we opened the doors for business in late March 2023.

In preparing to launch our new business, we got lots of input from local friends and relatives; we shared a vision for The Waiting Room and wanted to breathe new life back into an under-used building and the facilities housed within.

A new life and purpose felt right for The Waiting Room as the Old Station was once an important hub playing a big part in community life here in the Tamar Valley.

Our facilities are totally unique in all respects and we enjoy taking care of our business together as a ‘can-do’, positive husband and wife team. We’re personally involved in the day to day running, promoting, maintaining, cleaning and operations so naturally we have a close attachment to our business, which we believe is how it should be.

We are well supported with the guidance and help of family and friends, a local pool engineer, a reliable plumber and electrician who provide much needed knowledge and skills to ensure we keep our business running efficiently and smoothly.

We aim to keep operating throughout the year, seven days a week planning only to close when we have a day off or need a break. Many local people use the facilities regularly and appreciate having this resource on their doorstep so naturally we want to make sure we provide a reliable service to those who require it.

We have been touched and amazed by the response we’ve received to our new business; recently a local family told me that visiting the pool is their ‘favourite time of the week’ and another said they have relief from chronic pain when using the hot tub, whilst others experience a sense of peace and relaxation when they visit. If that wasn’t enough, our home life is now filled with the sound of laughter and splashing good fun ringing around the station platforms, it’s a magical place to live!

Several retired couples regularly use our facilities for low impact gentle exercise; with one couple advising us that ‘it’s been many years since we last used a pool’. Many of our hirers confirm that they feel happier, more confident, safe and comfortable in a private swimming pool environment.

It’s wonderful to know that our facilities work so well for people, we have to admit that, one of our favourite uses of the pool is when a group of ladies hire as part of a pampering day: the hot tub and pool hire being one of the many treats planned for the day ahead, lots of laughter and fun emits from the building and we love that friends are using the facilities to share quality private time together.

The range of uses and visitors is more varied than we could ever have imagined when we first opened and as we aspired to be as inclusive and useful as possible to our local community, we believe that our wishes have certainly been fulfilled.

We pride ourselves on keeping the premises pristine; cleaning before and after every hire and personally managing chemical levels used in our pool and hot tub carefully, with several tests taking place across each day. Many hirers have commented on the gentleness of the water quality in our pool and we’re proud that we are in a position to avoid the unnecessarily over-use of chemicals at our facilities which can sometimes be the case with larger/busier commercial pools.

We look forward to welcoming return and new customers in the future and will continue to do our best to make each hirer’s visit a good experience all we ask in return is for hirers to respect us and our facilities, follow the rules and terms and conditions and especially please observe your individual hire arrival and departure times as one of the few negatives that impacts our personal lives here is early arrivals and late departures… ironically, just as it might if we were still operating as a train station!
